Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Modima Labs collects when you visit our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We are a product-research publisher; we do not sell consumer products and we do not run consumer accounts. So we collect very little personal information.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the operator responsible under United States law is:

Modima Labs (a sole proprietorship) (California, United States)

You can reach the person responsible for privacy questions at hello@modimalabs.com. Our registered contact address is: 3350 Shelby Street, Suite 200, Ontario, CA 91764.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not require you to give us any personal information to read the site. The information we do process falls into three narrow categories:

  • Analytics data. Aggregate, technical information about how pages are used (described under “Analytics” below).
  • Messages you send us. If you email us or use a contact or newsletter form, we receive the information you choose to include. That is typically a name, an email address, and the content of your message.
  • Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records routine request metadata (such as IP address and timestamp) to operate the service and protect against abuse.

Analytics: cookieless, but it does process IP and user-agent

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site performs. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not use localStorage, and does not build a cross-site profile of you. That is why you will not see a cookie-consent banner on this site. We are not setting non-essential cookies that would require one.

Cookieless does not mean “no personal data at all.” To count a page view and filter automated traffic, the analytics service processes your IP address and user-agent string at the moment of the request. These are used transiently to derive aggregate metrics, such as approximate country, browser, and page popularity. They are not used to identify you individually or to track you across other websites. We rely on this processing under our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our content, and we have configured analytics to be as privacy-preserving as the tool allows.

Affiliate links and affiliate cookies

When you click an outbound link to a retailer, that retailer or an affiliate service we use may set a cookie so a later purchase can be credited to us as a commission. We do not control those cookies, and they are governed by that third party's privacy policy, not this one. We never receive your payment details, and affiliate reporting reaches us only in aggregate. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how this works and how we keep it from influencing our recommendations.

How we use information

  • To operate, secure, and improve the website.
  • To measure, in aggregate, which content is useful.
  • To respond to messages you send us.
  • To send the newsletter to people who ask for it (and to honor unsubscribes).
  • To attribute qualifying affiliate purchases so the networks can pay us.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the site (our hosting and analytics provider Cloudflare, our email/newsletter provider, and the affiliate networks listed above), and only to the extent each needs to perform its function. We may disclose information if required by law.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). Because we do not engage in those activities, there is nothing to opt out of. But if you would like written confirmation, email us at hello@modimalabs.com and we will provide it.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of that information, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As described above, we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, see “How to make a request” below.

Your rights in the EU/UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and (where processing relies on consent) to withdraw that consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Where we process data under our legitimate interests (for example, privacy-preserving analytics and basic security logging), you may object, and we will weigh your request accordingly.

How to make a request (DSAR)

To exercise any privacy right described above (access, deletion, correction, portability, or objection), send a Data Subject Request to hello@modimalabs.com. Please tell us what you would like and enough detail for us to locate any information we may hold (for most visitors we hold nothing beyond a past message). We will respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will not use verification information for any other purpose.

Data retention

We keep messages and newsletter subscriptions only as long as needed to respond to you or to provide the newsletter, and we delete them on request. Aggregate analytics are retained on a rolling basis by our analytics provider. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and then rotated out.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
