Editorial & AI Policy
Last updated: June 20, 2026
This page explains the standards behind everything we publish, and how we use AI tools.
Editorial independence
Our verdicts are ours. No brand, retailer, or advertiser pays for a score, a ranking, or a place in a guide, and we do not run sponsored reviews. We cover what readers are trying to buy, not what pays best. Affiliate income, explained in our affiliate disclosure, never determines a pick. We earn the same whether we recommend a product or warn you off it.
Accuracy and corrections
We get the facts right and show our reasoning. When we make a mistake, we fix it and note the correction rather than quietly editing the record. Spot an error? Email hello@modimalabs.com and we will look into it. We stamp reviews and guides with an updated date when the verdict or the underlying facts change.
Our policy on AI
We may use AI tools to assist research and drafting: to gather background, organize notes, or tighten prose. The judgement stays human.
The line we hold: every published review reflects research-based evaluation and human editing. We do not publish AI-generated verdicts. A model can summarize a spec sheet, but it cannot weigh the tradeoffs, cross-check owner reports for what consistently goes wrong, or decide what matters for a buyer. It never gets the final word.
A human evaluates the evidence, reaches the verdict, assigns the score, and signs off on every piece before it goes live. Where AI assistance shaped a draft, a human still verifies every claim against the manufacturer's specification or another cited source. We never invent measurements. As our how we test page explains, we do not publish a measured number we have not measured.
Sources and citations
Our reviews draw on published specifications, independent measurements, teardowns, and owner reports. We label manufacturer figures as such and cite outside sources. Where we have not evaluated something first-hand, we say so.
Bylines and accountability
Every piece carries a byline that links to a profile describing its focus and standards. We currently publish under a single editorial byline; as named contributors join, their bylines and profiles will appear here. The accountability is the same either way. The standards on this page govern every verdict.
